Pre-announcement of International conference
"Improving education : Evidence from secondary analysis of international studies"
Stockholm, 30 November – 1 December 2009
In order to develop the knowledge about results from large scale international assessments, (like PISA, TIMSS and PIRLS) the European Commission, the Swedish Research Council and the National Agency for Education will arrange an international conference in Stockholm the 30th November and 1st December 2009.
The Conference will bring together researchers who have worked on secondary analyses of international surveys on skills and competences to present key results and findings in areas most pertinent for policy making. The Commission, the Swedish Research Council and the National Agency for Education are eager to ensure that the conference will be a broad research conference taking into account available research results from a broad range of international sources.
The title of the conference is "Improving education : Evidence from secondary analysis of international studies". The conference will concentrate on the following themes : (see also the enclosed detailed draft programme) :
